Whittier

Whittier

Thursday we drove to Whittier, another small port and fishing village. They actually have cruise ships and large ferry boats that go all the way to Seattle. Not much to Whittier except some cool glaciers, a nice visitors center and a tunnel (one of the longest in America) that is one way and shared by train tracks so you have to go through on a schedule. We had a great lunch of fish and chips at a water front restaurant. On the way home we stopped first at a little town that was recommended to us. It was called Hope. There was almost nothing to it although we did stop for a beer at the only pub in town. I think there are less than 100 year round residents. I called it No Hope. They did boast the world’s greatest gift shop. The girls went there and reported it as lame. Stopped for dinner on the way home at a cool looking place called the Kingfisher Roadhouse. Had a not very good singer playing music. Place looked alot cooler from the outside than the inside.
Today is my son Brian’s birthday. Happy birthday, Brian! He never did get his birthday card sent from Kenai.
