West Virginia
We left Louisville the next day for Charleston, Wv. We booked a campground just outside of Charleston that was beautiful but what a ride to get there. Off the highway we travelled about 2-3 miles up a long, narrow, winding road that had Jamie on the edge of her seat. But we survived and arrived at Rippling Waters campground. It was a beautiful campground on a lake with a cute little chapel sitting on the lake.
We set up and relaxed that night because the next day we were heading out to explore West Virginia with an overnight at an exclusive hotel called the Greenbriar in White Sulphur Springs.
We were in West Virginia until Monday the 10th and Mother’s day we went to Charleston to have a Mother’s day brunch and walk around Charleston. Not much to say about Charleston so I’m combining the story and pictures of that day with pictures of our campground.
One amusing thing in Charleston is “Mortar Man”. Back in the mid 1980’s there was some building renovation going on and during his lunch break one of the workers molded this little 2″ man and placed him up in a little section above the entrance to one of the buildings. You’d never know he was there if someone didn’t point it out to you. I only found it through research of things to do and see in Charleston.
