Still in San Antonio
It’s been a while since my last post. For starters Jamie brought Cadence home and then we both went to work. I got back on the 10th and Jamie got home the 11th. Unfortunately, she also came home with the stomach flu. It basically decommissioned her for 3 days and she still isn’t 100 percent. But she fought through and yesterday, the 14th, we headed up to Austin for a little R&R. We went to the Omni Barton Creek resort where I played golf and Jamie hit the spa for a massage and some other much needed pampering and then hung out at the pool. Golf magazine puts out a list of the top 100 courses available to the public. This one was rated number 76 and is the only one in Texas that made the list. One of my goals is to play at least one in every state that made the list. It was a beautiful course.
On the way home we went to the historic town of Gruene. A very cool little town that was established in the 1800’s and is home to Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas, built in 1878 and still going strong. Some artists that have performed here are Willie Nelson, George Strait, Gregg Allman and Lyle Lovett. It was also used as a set for the movie Michael starring John Travolta as an angel. They had a band playing at 8:30 but we were already kinda tired and we plan on going back this weekend when Brent and Ashley come to visit so we just went to dinner at the Gristmill, which was originally a cotton gin built in the 1800’s.
