St. Louis. Jim’s trip down memory lane

St. Louis. Jim’s trip down memory lane

We had a beautiful week in Kauai while the lousy weather continued in Missouri. We got back on May 9 and 2 days later we were out of there having had enough of rain and tornadoes. Next stop was St. Louis. There really isn’t a whole lot to do there except for the arch, which is kind of neat, but Jim did go to college there so it was a trip down memory lane for him.

Unfortunately, the campus Jim went to across the Mississippi river on the Illinois side closed back in 1996 and the school was moved to the Saint Louis University campus. We started our day at the old campus to see what had become of it and it was very heart breaking. Buildings were falling apart, windows were smashed and weeds were overtaking the entire property. We did see Jim’s old dorms and classrooms but it was very sad.

From there we visited the airport he learned to fly at which was still in use and even expanded. After the airport we went to see the new campus at Saint Louis University. It was nice and definitely an improvement. Progress, I guess.
