Saturday in Dallas
Friday we slept in and had a late start. We went to a small area called Grapevine. Had lunch, did some shopping, then headed to another area called the Stockyards to meet up with Ross, our friend’s son that moved from Houston to Dallas after graduating and getting a job here. Had dinner and partied like 24 year olds. Had a great time and that was our day. Click on the picture above to see the rest of the pictures.
Saturday, after sleeping in, we decided to go see the cowgirl hall of fame (yeehaw!!) then go back to the Stockyards since we enjoyed that area so much the night before. The cowgirl museum was somewhat interesting but not really up my alley. But we had a great time at the Stockyards.
They had a cattle run through the town which was kind of fun to watch. Then we went to dinner at a fabulous restaurant called the Lonesome Dove. Which apparently was a western mini series. I never saw it, big surprise. Anyway the restaurant was outstanding. We had a fun appetizer which was rattlesnake and rabbit ground together into a kind of meatball. Again, when in Rome. Then had a fantastic steak stuffed with garlic.
After dinner we hit Billy Bob’s, a pretty famous cowboy bar in the area. They’ve had all kinds of famous people play there including names like Willie Nelson. In fact, Ronnie Milsap played there a few days earlier. This place was pretty incredible. It’s over 100,000 square feet big! They have a main stage, a dance floor stage, God knows how many pool tables and bars, and to top it off, their own rodeo arena inside! Of course we had to experience the rodeo. It was relatively small but I had never seen one before so I was pretty impressed. Watch the videos, one in particular is pretty crazy, lol. After Billy Bob’s we hit one more bar that had live music and headed home.
This video is crazy
