On to Minnesota

On to Minnesota

After our travels we returned to Fargo on September 5 only to pack up and leave the following day. We saw all we needed of North Dakota and it was time to head for Minnesota. Minnesota is a pretty big state and we were a little short on time with a bunch of things going on from August through October so we decided to skip alot of the state and hit what we felt were the highlights, which we decided were the northeast followed by the Minneapolis area. In the northeast we were focused on the northern shore of Lake Superior and it just so happened that on the way there was another of Jim’s top 100 golf courses. So the plan was 3 days at a campground in a town called Gilbert, which was near Giants Ridge, the golf course Jim wanted to play. This campground was a beautiful find. It was right on a lake with grassy, wide open spots. There was also an off road park right next door which we didn’t have time for but are keeping it in our back pocket in case we ever drag Jim’s sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Dan out there to go jeeping. Hint hint.
After setting up we ventured into the tiny little town and, as usual, hit a local bar and proceeded to make all kinds of friends. Before you know we were all buying each other drinks and we ended up with 2 bags of beef jerky and a tub of spice rub from a local guy that makes and sells the stuff to the bars and restaurants in town. It was very good. Then we had dinner at one of the restaurants and walked home.
The next day Jamie got a much desired sleep in day while Jim headed to the golf course for a great round at a very nice course. That night we grilled some brats, made a campfire and called it a day.

Had to show off my approach shot from the hole in the following pics. Even got a birdie out of it.!
