On to Fairbanks. Snow in June?
The next morning we started off for Fairbanks with an rv and jeep that were covered in mud and dirt. We hit a road block right away with highway workers tearing up the road. We had to wait about 20 min for the road to clear of construction vehicles and in front of us was a truck that sprayed water over the road to moisten it and it was spraying one of the other vehicles. Turns out the driver was one of the girls we met at the saloon the night before so I waved her over and said what about us. She asked if I was serious and proceeded to spray the dirt and mud off our rv. The rest of the workers got a kick out of this and took a bunch of pictures.
We finally were allowed to pass through and waved goodbye to our drinking buddies and continued on to more horrible roads. We made it to the Alaskan highway and stopped for lunch in Tok, Ak. We also stopped for fuel and another rv’er couldn’t believe how clean our rv was considering we came from the top of the world highway. 😁
After lunch we finished our drive to Fairbanks but not without hitting some snow in mid June! It was just a dusting but still. Just before arriving at our campground we passed the North Pole and also got an airshow as we passed Fairbanks AFB.
