After the Academy we went to visit the US Olympic training center. There are three around the country. One in Lake Placid that is mainly used for winter events, one in California, and the one we went to in Colorado Springs. This was very fascinating especially for Jamie as she once had aspirations of competing in the Olympics as a gymnast. We got about an hour tour of the facility and even ran across one of the male gymnast that had been training. Along with the impressive training facility they have are huge dorms and a dining hall to house the athletes and monitor their training as well as their diets. It was a great visit except that coming out of one of the buildings poor Jamie had a bee sting her leg right through her jeans. That’s the second time in the last year or so she’s gotten stung by a bee out of nowhere. We finished up the tour with, you guessed it, some more shopping.
