Oklahoma City, Ok
After our two fun filled days in Enid we continued south to Oklahoma City. They have a campground at Tinker Afb so that’s where we planned on staying. I have to say, it’s a very nice base and the campground is also very nice. It sits right on a small lake and is very clean and well maintained.
Day two we ventured out to a couple of different areas of Oklahoma City. First was the Stockyard area. This is where a lot of cattle auctions are done. It was nowhere near the place that the Stockyard area of Fort Worth was. Wasn’t worth the drive but we did have a beer at a very cool saloon called McClintock’s. The wood inside was imported in from all over Europe and the décor was very interesting.
From there we went to the Bricktown area. Of course, we had to go there since we lived in Bricktown, NJ before moving to FL. It was a pretty cool area with lots of bars and restaurants and their version of a Riverwalk area. Again, nothing like the one in San Antonio but a fun little area. We had dinner their and then went to Mickey Mantle’s restaurant for an after dinner drink and listen to a band that was playing. They also had a statue of Johnny Bench who was also from Oklahoma.
