Mountain biking
Sunday was mountain biking day. Well this was an eye opener. Did I say I didn’t need a bicycle instructor? Yeah, ok. He started off showing us how to brake, steer, stay up on our feet on the pedals, blah blah blah. Then the fun began. We hit our first “easy” run. Down some steep slopes, around some descending hairpin turns on loose dirt and gravel, all along narrow paths that actually were bordered by some steep drops if you wandered off the path.
Then we moved on to the harder “easy” runs. The girls (we were with another couple, from Michigan go figure) took a few spills and Jamie actual went flying over her handle bars going down and around one hairpin curve when she braked too hard with the front brake. You can admire her cuts and bruises in the pictures. But she got right back up and kept going after giving the instructor a heart attack thinking he had his first casualty. What a trooper. After a two hour lesson we were free to keep the bikes and equipment and continue riding on our own. The girls decided hitting the lodge for a couple beers was a better idea but Floyd and I hit the trails for a few more runs. Of course, now that we were on our own we picked up the pace a bit and scared ourselves a few times. After a few runs we met the girls for a beer then all headed home with the promise to meet for dinner one night. Which we did the next night.
I don’t have many pictures but I had my go pro so hold onto your seats and enjoy the videos.
