Memphis, Tennessee

After one day in Tupelo (which was plenty) we headed for Memphis and parked at an rv park that is part of the Graceland property. We were able to walk right across the parking lot to the Graceland museum. Some interesting street names in the campground. Unfortunately, we both had to go to work the next day but when we got back we began our touring of Memphis. We started downtown with an attraction that was recommended to me, the Peabody hotel duck walk. What you may ask is that? Since sometime in the 1930’s an employee at the hotel who was an animal trainer started training some ducks to parade from the rooftop through the lobby into a fountain. Who comes up with this stuff? The 5 ducks live in a duck “palace” in the rooftop. Every day at 11am they come down the elevator and to the fountain, staying in the lobby fountain all day, then return home at 5pm. They make a big production out of it.

After the duck walk we hit Beale St. for some dinner and music. Beale St. is like New Orleans packed into one small street. But as small as it is it’s packed with great live music at one place after another. We made a few trips to Beale St. during our month stay but I’m packing all our pictures into one post.

The videos below besides the duck walk are of some bands we saw on Beale St. and an Elvis impersonator we saw.
