Last day in Peru
Luis came and picked us up around 11 to bring us to his house for lunch. His wife made a great meal of pork and empanadas and potatoes and we had beer and more shots and had a great time. From there we bid farewell telling him to come visit us in Florida and headed to the airport for our flights home. Tiff, Lori and I headed for Florida (I had a golf tournament and some dr appointments that got cancelled by hurricane Matthew) and Jamie went to Michigan to visit with her family. Between work, family visiting and our annual trip to Myrtle Beach we won’t be heading back to Seattle and our motor home until early November. This will be my last post until then.
My summary of the trip is this. Lots of people told me they did this trip and said it was almost like a spiritual awakening when they came upon Machu Picchu. I didn’t see it. Don’t get me wrong. It’s amazing when you see what was built a very long time ago and I’m glad I got the chance to see it. But for me that was it. Also, looking back I can now say I’m proud of us for doing it. But if I had known how difficult it was I probably would have just rode the train there and hiked the short distance up lol.
