Jack Daniels distillery

Jack Daniels distillery

Most of October was spent with some side trips, physical therapy for Jamie, and work for Jim followed by our annual trip to myrtle beach the 3rd week of October. After returning to Nashville we spent a few days recuperating then on the 29th we decided to drive to Arnold AFB to get our military retiree id cards.
Jamie did a little research and discovered the Jack Daniels distillery was on the way home in Lynchburg, Tn. So we made a stop there, had lunch at a hole in the wall bbq place then went on a tour of the distillery. Lynchburg is a tiny little town that would be nothing on the map if it weren’t for the distillery. The tour was pretty cool followed by a tasting which was not for the whiskey faint of heart. The story of how they got started is very interesting and too long for this post but one sort of amusing story (at least for my sick mind) is how Jack died. He came to work one morning and needed some papers from the safe. Unfortunately, he didn’t know the combination, his uncle and accountant handled that. He got so mad that he kicked the safe and unknowingly broke his toe or foot. He didn’t go to the doctor and ended up getting gangrene which went through his body and killed him. Lesson to be learned here?

After the tour we headed home.
