Fleetwood factory tour

Fleetwood factory tour

While Jamie was in Napa Jim returned to Great Lakes. He spent a few days there playing golf with our friend and Jacksonville tenant, Nate, at Butler National Country Club where Nate is a member. What a beautiful course. It used to host the US Open but they had to give it up as they don’t allow women members.

Jim finally left Illinois and drove to the Fleetwood factory in Decatur, IN to have some minor repairs done that had either been repaired inadequately by other service centers or put off by us because we didn’t want to leave the motor home somewhere.

What a great decision this turned out to be. They had a nice parking lot set up with 50amp electric. They also had a very nice lounge with tv’s and Wi-Fi. Every morning they’d come pick up your rig and work on it all day then drive it back to your spot and hook up your electrics for you.

Fortunately Jim had the jeep with him so he explored the area (nothing to see there), played some golf and took a tour of the Fleetwood manufacturing plant. This was a fascinating tour and I highly recommend it to anyone that owns, or would like to own, a motor home. They get the chassis delivered from Freightliner with just the beam, wheels and engine and from there it’s a ride through the assembly line building from floor to roof to final painting. I can’t say enough about the tour. I also highly recommend Fleetwood owners to bring their rig here for any repairs they need if possible. These guys know these machines inside and out. They will get the work done correctly and faster and cheaper than any other service center.
