Sunday we went on an 11 hour long fishing charter. Today was a mix of good and bad. We had to be out of the house (rv) by 5am for a 6:30am charter in Homer. Bad for me lol. The water out in the ocean was very rough and cold and everyone had trouble fishing and standing. The boat was smaller than advertised when I booked and we had 2 more people join us so it was pretty cramped. But we caught quite a few fish and it was much calmer water when we finally came in more. The reason they go out far is that’s where the large halibut are. The other guy with us caught an 80 pounder and I caught a 30 something king salmon which was unexpected since their run was over by then. We all caught plenty of halibut and rock fish and ended up with 50lbs of fish each after they were fileted. We’ll be eating fish for a while. Anyway overall wecp had a good time but there were definitely some low points to that day. We capped it off with a beer at a cool little bar called the salty dawg then a nice dinner at a restaurant captain patties.
