Finally Reporting Back
Once again, it’s been a long time between posts. Between both of us working alot and having miserable wifi I just haven’t been able to keep up with it. But here we are at Vandenburg AFB in Lompoc, Ca. Almost halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The campground itself is adequate. Not our best by far. The grass sites were all full so we were relegated to basically a parking lot but we had full hook up and for $20/night how can we complain? They even had decent wifi although we were too far from the antennae so I had to go near the office to use it.
Jim drove from Huntington Beach on May 27 after dropping Jamie off to go to work. It was a miserable ride as not only was it Friday with the expected traffic but I ran into two major accidents all of which turned my 3-4 hour ride into a 7 hour ride. To top it off the gate at the base that was listed as being open till 7 was incorrectly listed and actually closes at 6. When did I arrive at the gate? 6:30 of course. So I had to make a u-turn with the motorhome and jeep and then figure out how to get to an open gate. Thankfully I had enough room to make the u-turn or that would have really been a pain. Anyway I finally arrived and here are the pictures of the campground.
Until Monday, June 6th we really didn’t do anything much except work and of course Jim played golf a couple of times. But we’ll have more stories and pictures to post coming up.
Oh, and the last picture? Well that was cool. We watched a hawk and the blue heron in the picture battle it out for a mouse. The hawk chased the heron all over and the heron won out and swallowed the mouse whole before the battle started again. I tried to get my camera to video it but I was too slow.
