Enid, Ok

After getting back from St. Croix and coming home to freezing weather we decided it was time to head south. We left Kansas for Oklahoma. First stop was Jim’s old stomping ground of End, Ok. That’s where he attended pilot training when he first entered the Air Force. The town itself changed significantly since he was last there over 35 years ago. The base changed slightly but was pretty much a nothing base just like he remembered it.  We only spent 2 nights in Enid and that was certainly plenty.

T-38. Same plane they used when Jim trained and is still in use to train pilots headed for fighter jets
T-37. The first plane Jim trained in. No longer in use
T-6. This was used for training from 1948-1953
T-1. Military version of a Hawker corporate jet. Used to train pilots headed for transport aircraft
Newer version of the T-6. This replaced the T-37
One of the flying training squadrons
