Duluth, Mn

We left the next morning for a short couple hour drive to Duluth, Mn, on the western tip of Lake Superior’s north shore. Here we had another great find for our campground. It was a campground/marina combination with small sites basically in a parking lot and definitely wouldn’t be for everyone but with our love of the water and boats and the fact it was within walking distance to town it was perfect for us.
We set up camp and walked around the marina then ventured off to town. Our first stop was the local park where there was a farmer’s market going on. We walked around and settled in on some local cheese and delicious home made granola, which will provide you with some amusement later in the post. After taking care of our attempts at seeming healthy with the farmer’s market we headed off for some brewery hopping, of which there was no shortage. After a few breweries we saw an Italian restaurant where the smells really pulled us in. We sat at the bar, surprise surprise, and shared some delicious appetizers. Ended up in conversation with a young couple from Minneapolis who convinced us it would be a really good idea to go to the local whiskey bar after dinner. Mind you this was after hitting 3 or 4 breweries and a bottle of wine at dinner. Yeah, great idea. We ended up sampling a flight of whiskeys and finally realized we had better go home. Of course, the next morning we felt great especially after we realized our attempt at eating the healthy local cheese and granola was left back at the whiskey bar. Jim and Jamie’s adventure continues.
