Dawson Creek and the start of the Alaskan highway
Wednesday we drove about 5 hours to Dawson Creek and the beginning of the Alaska highway. It was a cool little nothing town that was established as the Canadian side of the first highway to Alaska. We walked around and checked out the visitor center and the girl at the center told us it might be interesting to drive out to the original bridge that was built for the highway. It was an old wooden bridge that was still in good shape. Not the biggest thrill of my life.
Back in town we stopped at a pub (big surprise) called Spike’s. Looked like a local dive, just right for our love of meeting locals and it fit the bill perfectly. Sat around for about an hour chatting with some interesting people and learning more about the area. After that we called it a night.
