Connecticut

From Rhode Island we moved on to Connecticut. We’ve both been here before and Jim’s family used to vacation here so again, this was just a stop to accomplish the goal of staying in every state with the rv. We chose Mystic for our overnight to see the well known seaport. Jim had been there as a child and Jamie had never been there so it seemed like a good choice. There was also another historic restaurant that we wanted to visit that was nearby.

After setting up camp we took of for the town of Mystic. If you’ve never been there it’s a very quaint little town with lots of shopping along with the seaport. The seaport is the largest maritime museum in the United States set up to replicate a 19th century seafaring villiage established in 1929. They have the only surviving wooden whaling ship, the Charles W. Morgan, built in 1941.

After the seaport we walked around town and gave Jamie a chance to do some therapeutic shopping then headed to our dinner destination. The restaurant we went to was called the Captain Daniel Packer Inn, built in 1756. So that made 2 restaurants built over 250 years ago that we ate at in the last 2 nights. Fun. The food was great and we really enjoyed ourselves.
