Chicago

Chicago

We got back from our trips and God forbid I give Jamie a chance to rest. Nope, we headed straight to Chicago to stay in a hotel there for 3 nights to explore the city. Can’t believe she hasn’t shot me yet. She’s such a trooper.

Anyway, the first day we just walked around and explored the area we were staying in, which was a perfect location right downtown. We walked to a shopping district called the Magnificent Mile and Jamie did some shopping. She found a good deal on some new dresses so she was happy. Maybe this is why she hasn’t shot me yet? After that we went to dinner at an interesting restaurant called the Purple Pig. It was a very, I guess what they call eclectic restaurant with some interesting dishes and was delicious. After that I had to get Jamie home before she did shoot me.

The next day, after me letting Jamie sleep in till noon, we got an appointment to visit our United Airlines operation center in the Willis Tower, which is the old Sears Tower and at one point the tallest building in the world. It was very interesting to put the faces to the names of all the people and sections that we deal with when we’re out flying and to see their work stations. After the tour we headed to the top of the Willis tower for great views of the city. They also have a Skydeck, enclosed glass ledges that you walk out on and can look straight down to the street. That was pretty cool.

We finished the night off with a great dinner at a French steakhouse called Bavette’s which was fabulous.

I’m combining a few pictures from various things we did and saw during our 4 days in Chicago here instead of creating a new post for just a few pictures. A couple of those are as follows. Eating a Chicago deep dish pizza. Still doesn’t beat my NY pizzas but was pretty good. Eating a “famous” Chicago hot dog at a place called Portillo’s. Again, pretty good but not sure what makes them famous. We saw a bizarre motorized shopping cart driving down the street. For those that are interested in reading about it here’s the website: http://shopperchopper.com/.
