Thursday was spent recovering, again. Jamie went out and got some girly stuff done and I gave our rv some downtime loving. Cleaning and minor repairs, that is. Monday we took a down day in preparation for the big next day, Fat Tuesday. We drove around the base a little and just relaxed. Tuesday’s celebration was more of the same just on a much grander scale. There were multiple parades going on at the same time the entire day all over town. And more junk. Sunday we headed downtown for our first look at Mardi Gras which was in full swing and did not disappoint. The reality is it’s just a town full of drunks (present company excluded?) out having a good time and acting and dressing up crazy and a bunch of interesting looking floats throwing junk onto the hands of the junk hungry drunks. We made it to our second campsite on Saturday, Aviation Arbor RV park on a Joint Reserve base/Naval Air Station. This is the second military site we stayed in and, again, we were pleasantly surprised. Nice wide spaces with concrete pads and full service for $20 per night. Day 1 of our adventure across America is here. Somehow we pulled it off. 4 days to clean out our place, get it ready for our new tenant and get the motorhome ready for our trip. We’re off!
