Destrehan Plantation

Destrehan Plantation

Thursday was spent recovering, again. Jamie went out and got some girly stuff done and I gave our rv some downtime loving. Cleaning and minor repairs, that is. We also fulfilled our vows to stay in shape on this trip. I went to the base gym and Jamie actually found one of her dance studios right there in town that she went to. Jamie also made a great roast in the crockpot that we enjoyed for dinner. Friday it was…

Day 6 – WWII Museum

Day 6 – WWII Museum

Monday we took a down day in preparation for the big next day, Fat Tuesday. We drove around the base a little and just relaxed. Tuesday’s celebration was more of the same just on a much grander scale. There were multiple parades going on at the same time the entire day all over town. And more junk. Mardi Gras and Superbowl Sunday

Mardi Gras and Superbowl Sunday

Sunday we headed downtown for our first look at Mardi Gras which was in full swing and did not disappoint. But it’s hard not to get swept up by the spirit of the celebration and we went home with…

Day 2 – Drive from Pensacola to New Orleans

Day 2 – Drive from Pensacola to New Orleans

We made it to our second campsite on Saturday, Aviation Arbor RV park on a Joint Reserve base/Naval Air Station. This is the second military site we stayed in and, again, we were pleasantly surprised. Nice wide spaces with concrete pads and full service for $20 per night. Add to that a commissary, bx, gym and $1.50 beers at the club right around the corner and what more could we ask for! The original campsite we were going to stay…

Day 1 – WE’RE OFF – DRIVE FROM JACKSONVILLE TO PENSACOLA

Day 1 – WE’RE OFF – DRIVE FROM JACKSONVILLE TO PENSACOLA

Day 1 of our adventure across America is here. Somehow we pulled it off. 4 days to clean out our place, get it ready for our new tenant and get the motorhome ready for our trip. We’re off! Our first stop on the way to New Orleans and Mardi Gras is at Pensacola Naval Air Station. Decent campground. Watched a beautiful sunset, Jamie made a great dinner, then we spent most of the evening putting things away and organizing since…

About This Blog

This blog is a journal of our trip across the United States as full time RVers! We started out from Jacksonville, FL on February 5, 2016 with a general idea of where we were heading but no real agenda! Seeing every state was a bucket list item of Jim’s. Fortunately he has an adventurous wife that supports his crazy ideas. When I first proposed the idea to Jamie she said 2 years seems like a long time but said she’d give…
