Australia and updating our status

Australia and updating our status

It’s been a while since I’ve posted but that’s because we haven’t had much going on that’s blog worthy. But I figured I’d update our status just to stay current. We left Utah for Vegas October 17. We originally planned to stay for 2 months but Jamie had been having a lot of pain in her feet so she decided to see a doctor in Vegas. Turned out she had torn tendons in both her feet. Between her life of gymnastics, dancing and all the hiking I’ve been throwing at her I guess it took it’s toll. So we decided to spend the next 6 months or more in Vegas and the first surgery was scheduled for November 28.

We left for Australia and Alec’s graduation on November 12 with Cadence in tow. I have to say she is an amazing traveler. We ended up with 2 seats together in coach and one in first class. Jamie was smart and gave me the first class seat to start with and since the flight departed LAX at 11pm Cadence slept the first half of the flight. I slept an hour or two and then we swapped out and Cadence was ready to go while Jamie slept the entire rest of the flight. But as I said, she really was an angel. We did some homework, played a little and watched some movies and not once did she complain about the flight.

Australia was a great time, as always. The Brand family made us feel right at home and we had a great time there.  Flight home was jam packed full and we ended up with 3 middle seats one behind the other in coach and, of course, the people in the window and aisle seats next to her had no interest in swapping with one of us. But once again she was an amazing traveler. Not once did she bother the people next to her and only occasionally asked us for things. She had a wonderful time and every time we talk to her she asks when we’re gonna go back.

We got back from Australia on November 18 and from there headed to New Hampshire to spend Thanksgiving with Jim’s mom, sister and brother-in-law. Had a nice time there except Jim got sick the next day so we travelled home that weekend.

November 28 Jamie had her first foot surgery on her right foot. It went well and she was in a cast till December 30.
