Rhode Island

Rhode Island

We had one day of rest before it was time to move on. Since we lost a year due to Covid we are quickly making our way through the rest of the trip so we can complete it by September of 2021. The thinking is we will have completed our mission of seeing all 49 states in the rv but if needed, we can return to any states we felt we needed to see more of.

Next stop, Rhode Island. We did a one day stay here and used it to see the Newport mansions. These are a group of mansions, many originally owned by members of the Vanderbilt family, that were built in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. They really were spectacular. We got to go through 3 of them and due to their size we ended up with a bunch of pictures so either skip this post or enjoy the pictures.

After our mansion tour we went to dinner at the White Horse Tavern, built in 1652 and believed to be the oldest tavern in the United States. The food was excellent and place was unique. After that, back to the campground and off to bed before moving on the Connecticut.
