We left Maine for Middleboro, Massachusetts, which just outside of Cape Cod. We’ve both been through much of Massachusetts so we planned on focusing this week on Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

The next day we set off for a ride along 6A, a local road along the north shore of Cape Cod, planning to ride out to Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod. It was about a 90 mile ride so we packed an overnight bag in case we decided to spend the night in Provincetown. Our first stop was at a waterfront restaurant in a town called Sandwich. This is the oldest town in Cape Cod established in 1637 and was named after a town of the same name in England.

After lunch, we set out along 6A stopping at a couple of historic towns along the way. We didn’t get to Provincetown until late afternoon and decided we wanted to spend the night so first on the agenda was finding a place to stay. We found a small hotel that was originally an old house and after settling in headed out to explore the town. Then we had a great dinner, found some live music, and called it a night. The next day we headed back to the campground stopping at a JFK memorial in Hyannis.
