Finally resuming our trip

Finally resuming our trip

I can’t believe it but it’s been almost 2 months since I’ve updated the blog. We got back from Peru and had a very full October, just not with our motor home trip. The plan was for me to go to Jacksonville for a golf weekend and Jamie to go to Michigan to visit family. Well, I got to Jacksonville just as hurricane Mathew was approaching which was a complete surprise to me. That’s what happens when you’re out of the news loop. The golf tournament was obviously cancelled and I high tailed it out of there and went to join Jamie in Michigan. Mathew was supposed to hit Jacksonville pretty bad but as it turns out it hit South Carolina worse and our place in Jacksonville was spared but our place in Myrtle beach wasn’t. We had water damage there and poor Jamie had a girls trip scheduled the following week. Poor thing spent the whole week with her friend Cathy taking care of the condo while I stayed with my mom while my sister and her husband took a much needed vacation. Then Jamie and I switched and I went to Myrtle Beach for my annual golf outing while she went to stay with my mom. I think I got the better deal that month. Thanks Jamie, you’re the best!
After both going to work in the beginning of November we finally made it back to Seattle where Gabby (our granddaughter’s name for the rv) was impatiently waiting for us. We picked her up and headed to a campground right near downtown Seattle. Was an ugly place but our last few days there were gonna be sightseeing in Seattle so location, location, location.
I’m combining about a week of our blog and pictures since I don’t have alot of pictures from our time in Seattle. We arrived in Seattle on 11/3 and Jamie had to go to work the next day so the first 5 days were spent with me doing “home” stuff.
Jamie got back on the 7th and our sight seeing began on the 8th with a tour of the Seattle underground. Seattle basically burned down in 1889 due to poor city construction and a wood worker leaving some boiling glue unattended. As a result they rebuilt the city over the burned down area. But you can still tour the old city. It was not spectacular but interesting.
Next we went to the space needle. The famous observation tower built in 1962 for the world fair. Also under the space needle is the Chihuly glass exhibit. Dan Chihuly is a glass artist and has a very impressive exhibit as you’ll see in the pictures.
The next day we went for a tour of the Boeing plant. That was pretty amazing. We even got to see my newest ride waiting to be delivered. United has a bunch of 777-300’s on order which is the biggest version of the 777. The first one is scheduled to be delivered in December and I’m very excited about flying it. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t let us go in it. Also, they wouldn’t allow pictures inside the plant which I was surprised about. So I only have pictures from outside the plant.
That pretty much summed up Seattle and the next day it was on to Mount Ranier.
