Drive to McChord AFB

Drive to McChord AFB

On to Seattle. So I have to say that Washington hasn’t been very kind to us so far. Starting with Spokane where we arrived at Fairchild Afb with no host around, but a sign saying take any empty spot. So we got all settled into the only empty spot when the host finally returned and approached us to say sorry but that one is reserved for an active duty person but a spot would be opening tomorrow and we could dry camp until then. Apparently the only people allowed to make reservations are active duty personnel with orders to that base. Of course at that point it was about 6 pm and we were relaxing with drinks in hand.
So what did we do? Offered her a drink and convinced her to see if the active duty guy would dry camp till tomorrow since he wasn’t there yet. She did and he did and we lucked out.

Next stop was McChord AFB near Seattle, another place I didn’t think took reservations (turned out I was wrong, oops) hoping it would have space with people finishing up labor day weekend and heading home. Got there, office closed, met by host who gave us a very nice spot and said her clipboard didn’t show anyone else in that spot all week. Awesome, right? Wrong. Went to the office in the morning only to be told we could have that spot one more night then they were all filled up for the week. Wouldn’t have been a big deal but this was Monday and we both had to leave for work very early Wednesday morning. To make matters worse we called a few places and found alot of campgrounds were full. We finally decided to put the rv in their storage lot and shut her down for the week and got a hotel room near the airport. Our frig wasn’t that stocked anyway so we dealt with it. That’s it for now. Off to work.

No pictures since we didn’t do anything but I should have taken a picture of our poor rv in the storage lot.
