Side trip to NJ

Side trip to NJ

Saturday we flew up to nj to visit Brian, Winnie and of course Gigi. It was a beautiful day so we ended up taking Gigi to the boardwalk. She had a great time and even went on her first ride on the train with mom and dad. We got home and grandma fed her and she fell asleep in grandma’s arms. She slept very happily with grandma and grandpa that night. Sunday it was off to work for both of…

Off to Vegas!

Off to Vegas!

Tuesday we leave for Vegas. About halfway there we get this horrible sulfur smell in the rv. I pull over concerned something is wrong and walk all around outside looking in all the compartments but there’s no smell outside, only inside. Unable to find anything wrong we continue on and it last for about another 15 minutes or so. We had to stop at an rv dealer to have our shower door adjusted and I mention it to the guy….

Grand Canyon caverns and ghost tour

Grand Canyon caverns and ghost tour

Monday we were leaving for Vegas but had heard about some caves called the grand canyon caverns that were just under halfway there with an rv park so we decided to spend the night and check them out. They had numerous different tours from a very basic walk through along paved paths to a very intense tour climbing through narrow passages into parts of the cave many people don’t get to see. I’m sure you know which one we opted…

Grand Canyon day 2!

Grand Canyon day 2!

Woke up the next morning at for a 6:30 breakfast and back on the trail at 7 for another 6 hour ride, this time uphill. I personally found uphill to be better than down but the trail (a different one then on the way down) was still narrow with sharp switchbacks and steep drops. And my mule still enjoyed scaring me. About 12:30 we finally reached the very welcomed site of the top of the canyon. All in all a…

The Grand Canyon, day 1!

The Grand Canyon, day 1!

Saturday we left at 6am for our two day mule ride into the grand canyon. What a ride. We joined 6 other people and our guide at a meeting point where they rounded up our mules, a mix of a horse and a donkey we learned. They gave us a few pointers, like just trust your mule they’ve done this hundreds of times (great) and off we went. As you can see from some of the pics the trail is…

Williams and Seligman, Az

Jamie did some research in one of the books Sue and Dan gave us and found two cool little towns about an hour away on old route 66. Williams and Seligman, Arizona. So we decided to take a ride and check them out and they didn’t disappoint. They were old towns basically turned tourist trap but as you can see from the pictures they were fun little towns. We stopped for a beer at the Black Cat bar, one of…

Back in Time!

Back in Time!

Bedrock City campground near the Grand Canyon We got back from work Tuesday and Thursday we left for the grand canyon. We booked a place called Bedrock city. For those of you too young or too old to know that was the name of the Flintstone’s town and this was what was left of an old Flintstones theme park. It was run down and all but abandoned but it was still kinda cool. The rv sites were small dirt strips…

Lookout Mountain GC

Lookout Mountain GC

Phoenix, AZ I guess one day of golf wasn’t enough for Jamie. She was researching some golf schools for next year and came across one at the Hilton resort so she suggested we check the course out. Like I said, I’ve created a monster. But far be it for me to turn down a round of golf so off we went. This was probably the most difficult course I’ve played all year. Many blind shots and allot of hills and…

Los Reyes de la Tortas and the Cactus Garden

Los Reyes de la Tortas and the Cactus Garden

Phoenix, AZ We started today by checking off another of my lists having lunch at one of Adam Richman’s best sandwich of America places. This one is called Los Reyes de la Torta. The sandwich he rated was called their Torta. It had ham, melted cheese, pork sirloin, breaded beef, omelet, sausage, Mexican sausage, tomato, onions, avocado, chipotle sauce, refried beans and potatoes ruffles on the side. That sandwich was insane. I have to admit of all the sandwiches on…

Southern Dunes GC

Southern Dunes GC

Phoenix, AZ Wednesday we played golf at Southern Dunes gc, checking off my top 100 golf course in the US for Arizona. The course was about an hour south of Phoenix and was very nice and a great price, 69 each, considering it’s high rating. We paired up with another guy who was great to play with. Even met him and his wife for dinner at the True Grit tavern named after John Wayne. Apparently Wayne owned allot of property…

Relaxing Day at Home?

Relaxing Day at Home?

Phoenix, AZ Friday was supposed to be a relaxing down day. We ran her all week and tomorrow it was time for her to go home so Cadence and grandma made pancakes for breakfast then we swam at the pool and came back for a little nap. The girls woke from their nap and Cadence saw a bee in the rv. I killed it and the next thing you know she sees another and another. So I go outside and…

Swimming with the Dolphins

Swimming with the Dolphins

Phoenix, AZ Thursday we went to an aquarium where you can swim with the dolphins. Jamie and Cadence went to the pool area and got fitted with life jackets then got a brief talk about dolphins. Then they went into the pool, which was a bit chilly, and meet their trainer and dolphin. Who was named Brody. Cadence wasn’t expecting such a big fish! But after a short time she stopped clinging to grandma and had a great time. She…

Wildlife Zoo

Wildlife Zoo

Wednesday we went to the Phoenix wildlife zoo. Cadence got to see lots of animals and got to touch and feed manta rays. She really enjoyed the petting zoo playing with and feeding the goats, sheep and llamas. She also got to go on the roller coaster. She loves roller coasters. Being a Michigan girl she’s not too fond of the Arizona heat but she survived. After the zoo we went back to the campground and spent the rest of…
